    Job Title: First Class Server

    Reports To: F&B Management

    Type of position: Non-Exempt / Hourly

    Location: Bryson City, NC

    Compensation: $10 hourly plus gratuities and commissions on Retail products sold

    Job Summary: To provide an excellent dining experience for our guests through proper steps of service and maintain a great work environment. To serve food and beverage in a safe and professional manner. Enhance guest experience with prompt, courteous service and narratives.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Checks with Manager on Duty (MOD) for daily numbers and objectives.
    • Ensure that the service is, at all times performed, in a professional manner and to the style as specified by Food & Beverage Management.
    • Responsible for entertaining and interacting with all passengers on board First class and Crown cars, including but not limited to Train Route History, Passenger Car History, Locomotive Power History
    • Ensures that passenger car cleanliness standards are met.
    • Ensure that retail products are promoted to all train passengers with an opportunity to make a purchase. 
    • Required to complete proper car setup and supply levels.
    • Provide food and drink service, including bar service, during the excursion to the standard of food and beverage management.
    • To ensure that exceptional guest service is provided as far as reasonably possible.
    • Comply with GSMR policy, procedures, and safety program including safety rules, operating rules, and participation in ongoing safety training/regular daily safety meetings. 
    • Use of Point-of-Sale system (Square), and effective cash and credit/debit card handling.
    • Adhere to company service standards, procedures, and policies; while maintaining a clean and sanitary environment in compliance with all local, state, and federal health codes. 
    • Clear tables and seating areas within the cars, including but not limited to bussing tables and plates. Assistance provided when needed.
    • Responsible for completing opening and closing side work and daily beautification.
    • Assist in putting away vendor deliveries, café set up and break down, inventory, and daily PAR checklists.
    • Other duties as assigned by Food & Beverage Management and/or GSMR senior management.
    • Assist guests with use of QR codes for alcohol menu and comment cards.
    • Attend ABC and any other require trainings.

    Work Environment:

    • Able to work long days may require prolonged standing and lifting of objects up to 50lbs. 
    • Able to complete tasks in multiple levels of service aboard the train. 
    • Able to work with many types of personalities and able to work out problems and resolve conflicts.
    • Able to work in all types of weather including temperatures of 0 to 100 degrees, as well as rain, shine, or snow.

    Education, Skill, and Work Experience Requirements:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent.
    • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and spoken English.
    • Must be self-motivated and disciplined.
    • Must be at least 21 years of age to apply.
    • Must meet weekly/monthly retail sales goals. 
    • Minimum of one-year customer service experience which includes cash handling.
    • Good balance/equilibrium: walk on moving trains.
    • Must possess organizational skills with the ability to multi-task while prioritizing workload with a practical, flexible, and innovative approach to work.
    • Ability to communicate successfully with a variety of personalities and function effectively as a member of a team.
    • Available to work weekends and holidays.
    • Must be able to constantly improve and adapt to changes easily.
    • Must have a professional appearance with good personal hygiene.
    • Must pass a pre-employment background check.
    • Able to maintain dependable work attendance and flexibility with assigned work schedules.
